760 wiper linkage

Post by markshark »

"Push on Cap", that connects linkage to motor, is damaged.

Freezing temperatures (freezing wipers to windshield) must have really mangled it; usually one only has to push it back into place for the cap to fasten onto the ball on the (short) wiper arm piece.

Can this be replaced/repaired/fixed without replacing the linkage assembly that the cap is pushed into?

Thanks,

Mark

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

You didn't state the year of the car, but I think they are pretty much the same on these parts. I assume you are referring to the cap just to the right of 13 in the attached.

I have seen this part replaced by a piece of plastic rod. If it is a tight enough fit it will work.

thanks Bill- 1990 760 turbo-you're correct, it's the mushroom cap that's pushed into the end of the linkage arm - , the opening, fits over a ball on a short linkage arm (not shown in the diagram) that's fastened to the motor linkage....I'll see if i can make something that will replace the push cap and fit snugly over the ball. In the alternative, I'll have to order a used linkage....thank you for the suggestion.
