After years of living in the Volkswagon world, I'm glad to have made the leap to Volvo. I've had my 2004 V70 wagon for 2 weeks and I LOVE it. I'm also new to this forum and so grateful to find it. I've already found one answer to one concern - a message about the position bulb failure. I haven't whacked the side of car yet, but I'm hoping that''ll fix it.
One issue is one of the booster seats won't pop up. The other one works perfectly. Is there a quick, easy fix? It seems like the handle isn't engaged with the locking mechanism.
My other, more pressing concern is the smell of anti-freeze. A quick search leads me to the core heater problem. Is there a way to check this? After two weeks, it makes me sick to think I have to take it in already...
Thanks in advice for any ideas.

The release cable in the seat can pop out of place. If you flip up the whole seat base you can get to the retaining bolts for the child section. The cloth disconnects if you gently pop out the little plastic retainers, but they're pretty delicate.
With the child section off, you can probe into the latch mechanism with a skinny screwdriver to get it to release.
Chances are the release cable has come loose behind the release handle, but it's very easy to see how it should all go together.
It might be worth taking the functioning one off to see how stuff works.

Thanks FjordMoCo,
found this forum as i googled broken xc70 booster seat, followed your instructions and fixed it in less then 10 minutes. Both ends of the tensioning cable had come loose, was quite easy to stretch it back into place, and then re-assemble the booster seat.
I'm definitely no expert and thought i'd mention this in case anyone else reading was concerned about taking anything apart.
now looking into the rest of Matts forum, plenty to keep me interested by the look of things!
Many thanks!
