1994 850 PCV repair
1994 850 PCV repair
I am part-way through the PCV repair, and came across this under the (removed) throttle body on the 1994 850. Does anyone know what it is, and more importantly, does it need to be disconnected? It feels like it is attached to the intake manifold, and judging from the rust it's not going to make things easy.

Yes, it is the EGR only in 93-95 yesr models. You need to soak them in PB blaster for a while, might even need some heat to help loosen them. BTW, you will need all two new gaskets.GregK wrote:does it need to be disconnected? It feels like it is attached to the intake manifold

Al, I am appalled. If you weren't already getting a low, or no flow code from the sensor, it'd be beneficial to do it now, Its a hard job, just getting the EGR out, there is almost no room, but... it should clear a CEL.
And here is the write up I did

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.

I don't see how that intake manifold would come out w/o disconnect EGR...

These forums are great, I would have given up on our cars long before without them. Thank you!
The EGR will have to get disconnected before the intake manifold can come off, but seeing the shape it's in and how the hole in the throttle body is plugged full of burnt oil I'm going to focus on it before the rest of the PCV. Although it sounds like taking them both off is the best approach.
Two gaskets? I have one for the manifold, one for the throttle body, and will get one for the EGR. That's all, right?

one for the manifold one for the throttle body and one for the egr. you'll be glad you did the egr.I did mine because it started sticking and throwing codes and running like crap.Take your time and spray some pb blaster on the big nut on that tube and the two smaller mounting nuts(8mm),let it sit for a little while and give it a go.make sure you clean it good once you have it off.good luck
