There are Black Friday sales going on so I want to order parts to do this on our 1996 Non-Turbo
850 Wagon. I was told that there are multiple parts showing as fitting because there were
early and late production that only require different hoses to the crankcase to use them. I'm
inclined to order the newer Oil Trap on the thinking that it and/or the hoses are improved but
I have no idea if this is true. On the other hand the original part is cheaper and I feel more
sure to be a perfect fit. Last 6 digits on our VIN start with 538XXX so that seems to indicate that
1271650 is the correct flame trap, question is how do I find the part numbers for all the hoses
that match this part?
Please refer me to a thread or whatever if this is spelled out clearly somewhere.
The full PCV NA kit from FCP includes oil trap #Volvo 9146756 and has a long list of parts but
I'm not sure which parts are different.
I've watched Robert's and FCP's videos on how to do this but they didn't cover which parts to use,
also, I want to do this at minimum cost and best performance so I'm going to do the hose size
upgrade to oil rated hose. I have already removed the flame trap.
Thanks in advance everyone, site has been a great help to us!

Trying to figure this out as there are two full kits from FCP and both are for NA cars.
The cheaper one (850T300) includes "hose" Volvo 9125598 that is partly made up of a
metal pipe and this hose is $53 alone.
The more expensive kit 850NA96 for the NA does not seem to include this hose.
Both kits use the more expensive oil trap VOL-9146756.
I don't plan to buy either of these but hoped that the list of parts would give a clue
as to what I need to buy.
Very confused?

If you already have yours out it should be easy to see what to get???
The problem with the system is 1. It clogs when oil changes are neglected. 2. The plastic pipes / tubing breaks when old and disturbed.
I would replace the larger pipe from the oil box to the throttle body with a 1/2 metal pipe, either copper or aluminum. Use the end pieces from the new tube to connect the pipe.
Hope that helps.

No, I don't have the old one out yet, but thanks for the suggestion.
"I would replace the larger pipe from the oil box to the throttle body with a 1/2 metal pipe"
Is this the one that others replace with larger oil grade hose?

Pcv kit for non turbo cars have two versions. One is for cars up to '95 and the other is for cars from '96.
Even the oil separator box is different and have different part number.Earlier cars have smaller oil separator box and later ones have taller one.
Later 850s from '96 & '97(motronic 4.4 cars)have the same pcv system like '97 & '98 s,v,c70 and use the same part number pcv kit.

Don't waste money on the PCV kit.
- Oil Trap, take it out and clean it with solvent. I posted the photo of the inside anatomy somewhere in forum.
Yes, you can re-use it.
- Hose the valve cover ---> Oil Trap: yes buy this.
- Vent hose (plastic pipe), don't bother, instead use 5/8-inch hose.
- Short rubber hoses ---> engine: yes
- Oetiker clamp is nice, although standard clamps work just fine.
- Flame trap: get rid of that junk, it is nothing but trouble.

Even within the universe pre and post '95 there are different versions within the '93 and '94 engines themselves. You need to pull off the actual engine number which is not the last digits of the VIN. If you are lucky the sticker is still on the timing cover and it has the engine serial number on it.
