Quick On Car ABS Module Testing 1998 S70 T5

Post by MoVolvos »

Hi Everyone,

In my other post I mentioned a link showing how to have the ABS Module working w/o a replacement or removal. Well, I try it today and it works... BUT. THAT IS A BIG BUT. I would consider this method a good way to TEST the MODULE as the ABS light IS out. This trick temporally force the bad/broken/unsolder-ed contacts in the Module to press together.

Here is the link. REMEMBER THIS IS ONLY a TEMP Turning off of the ABS light to indicate a problem with the Module. The Modules should be soldered so you know it is safely repaired and not just shutting off the ABS light. Send it in and have it done right but meanwhile you can test it without removing it while waiting for the replacement to arrive.

I would assume it is the same thing or worst case scenario being right handed vehicles it is perhaps a mirror image of the part. Regardless, this is for testing purposes only. I did open my Module and solder the joints so it is a permanent fix now and I've tested it on the car afterwards. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften up the glue on the case before opening it and use a very fine and thin flat head to remove/pry off those four lock washers (FIRST). Lastly, there is Matty Moo if you do not care to fiddle with it.
