Trunk Release Mechanism for S40

Post by ctribell »

Trunk Release Button Mechanism:
My 2001 Volve S40 was bumped in the rear which caused the trunk not to open. It was knocked out of adjustment. I opened the trunk by going through the back seat and removing a few screws/clips. There is a rod with threads that is adjustable by removing a plastic piece that inserts into another plastic piece (removed by inserting a small screwdriver onto each side to release the adjustment stabilizer rod (this removable piece holds the adjustable rod leading to the trunk push-button lock mechanism into place once you have turned it and have it in the proper adjustment). When I removed that small plastic piece from its plastic house, it went up into the body of the trunk lid and was lodged there never to be seen again.
Does anyone have this part for sale? A solution maybe? Help. I can't open and close my trunk w/out going through the back seat. Such a tiny little part, such a huge inconvenience!
