I recently switched replaced my 2006 Volvo s40 brake pads with Wagner Thermo Quiets. Well the new front brake pads are extremely loud but only when the car hasn't moved in a while such as first thing in the morning and leaving work at the end of the day. Almost seems as if it is moisture in the air that causes it. However, I have these same Wagner Thermo Quiets on my truck and they never make noise. Is it time for new rotors? Could rust on the rotors and these brake pads be causing the noise? The Volvo OEM pads never made any noise, they just wore fast and were dirtier.
I had the rotors resurfaced and that made the noise go away for about two weeks, but now it is back and it is an ear piercing squeek in forward and reverse especially backing out of my driveway at 5am.

Did you use any anti-squeal paste on the backs of the new pads? Stuff I used dried to a kind of rubbery feeling glob. This stopped my squeal on a v70.
