Testing the MAF

How do you test a MAF sensor on a 87 240? While driving the car it begins to run rough then dies at a stop.. it will not restart. I disconnect the MAF then reconnect it. It starts but runs very rough.. make it to a parking lot and call a tow truck to get me home.. I take off the MAF to spray it off with MAF cleaner but it is clean so I install it and drive it around the block a couple of times... it idles a little rough... I believe it is the MAF but want to make sure. I replaced the MAF in 2001.

Get yourself a good DVM or an oscilloscope.
