Although my screen name is Volvo1man, it refers to my love of the cars, and not necessarily my mechanical abilities. Hence I browse this forum often. I have a 1994 940 Turbo Wagon with 252,600 miles on it, daily driver, and it is going strong.
I have two issues with the turn signals. First, about a week ago when I turned on the right turn signal about 50% of the time it will work as expected with a slow and steady blink. The other 50% of the time it gives a fast flash. When making a right turn signal the "Bulb Failure" does not light up in either case.
Secondly, when I turn on the left turn signal it always gives a slow and steady blink rate. About 25% of the time the "Bulb Failure" light on the dashboard comes on.
What I have done: 1) Checked the fuses - all good, 2) Checked for loose wires near the front and rear light clusters - none seen, 3) Rotated back and forth the bulb holders in the rear light clusters to ensure good connectivity.
My questions: Does this sound like the flasher relay is starting to go? Or does it sould like bad/corroded wires? I'm grasping at straws here and would appreciate any input and suggestions as to the problem.
