98 volvo s70 t5 wont boost beyond stock psi with ecu tune

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

98 volvo s70 t5 wont boost beyond stock psi with ecu tune

Post by volvohighway »

I have a 98 Volvo s70 t5 with an Ecu tune from eurosports which is supposed to be set a 15 Psi !!!
The car will not hit 15psi what so ever, I do have a boost gauge. I have changed tcv to the ipd tcv HD, I have replaced all vaccum line from tcv, I just changed the cbv, with the ipd heavy duty blue spring, which I thought that would for sure solve the issue but nope. I have the 3inch full exhaust, with k&n filter. I can not hit 15 Psi what so ever am running out of options. I read a few post about the wg actautor. And adjusting it, but my thread on the rod is totally gone and would a little adjustment just give me more boost at lower rpm and wouldn't really solve the problem. I was also thinking if I put an mbc would it work, or would it still give me
the same problem.

If you guys know about this type of issue please let me know, thxxxx am running out of options.

Try clearing codes even if you don't have any. Your S70 could be in a pre-code condition.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

You have to go through a "learn" procedure when you first install! Other than that I would say turn your wastegate in 1 turn. Other than that unsure, you've done the usual suspects.

No, adding something else would make it more difficult to figure the problem out. At this point you want to eliminate variables, not add them.

Start at Stage 0 page. Try to put it back to stock, if you have a stock ECU for instance put it back in. Turn back the wastegate to stock setting.

See if you have the boost problems after all that.

If so, you can rule those out, eliminating variables. That's the direction you want to go with this.

I've run lots of different tunes in my car and have never heard of anything like this. You put the tune in and drive.

How much did you pay for this tune and where are these people located at? Is it the rica tune that eurosport sells?

The wastegate was never adjusted, its been the same. Its eurosports and I bilieve they are Canadian version of Rica. The owner is Frank, if you search up eurosports tunning on Google it should come up. I paid around 650 for the tune. I know its weired I've read so many threads and very few get same issue as me, and when they do its an easy fix. I was wondering if I can get a refund, because at this. Point I just don't know what to do, and to refer to Matthew1 before I did the tune it was stock and its was acting the exact same before and after, so reversing the whole process I bilieve will give me same outcome. There must be something holding it back from going full boost. Could my Turbo be gone, but that wouldn't. Make sense if its still boosting. The car has everything done to plugs wires, msd ignition coil. 3inch exhaust all the way, filter, upgraded tcv, and cbv,and vac lines, and the whole point to that is for that tune, more HP. If anyone has suggestions plz don't hesitate.

When I put my ARD tune in I was only hitting 10psi boost which is stock for mine. I figured out the BCS is bad. I installed a MBC and set the wastegate and now
I hit full target boost and have no issues. When I called Lucky originally and talked to him about the issue and told him that I set the wastegate to the specs on his website. He told me that he has seen some that need the wastegate cranked alittle more than listed on the site. One of these days I'll get a new BCS and get it all working properly.

I'm on the 12 step plan..... 12 beers in a case...... Coincidence? I think not!!!

Lol I see so you got the tune, it didn't work, then you installed the mbc set wastegate and got full boost. I've been thinking that is the only issue that seems to be left that I did not play with or replace. I want to adjust it soo bad, but the thread on the rod is totally gone rusted out, and even the nut just stripes. Is there a way around it, or do I have to replace so the whole piece. I've been shopping around and I guess there not sold seperatly, you would have to buy the whole Turbo. If anyone knows where I can find a wg actuator or has a way around a corrided one, plz let me know. That recent post got my hopes up.
