98 volvo s70 t5 wont boost beyond stock psi with ecu tune

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

Wastegates are separate I've seen some listed throughout eBay. I think you have to look it up as the Mitsubishi wastegate! I'm still playing around with the tune, and settings for my engine. I'll be running it on a dyno once all is set!

I'm on the 12 step plan..... 12 beers in a case...... Coincidence? I think not!!!

I had the same issue after installing the ARD green tune, turned out the Idle Air control valve OUTLET tube had exploded, check that out, its under the cover that protects the throttle cable.

Yeah I know I wouldnt be surprised if it was gone, and I will check, but is there anyway someone could do a easy boost leak check, etc spraying something, rather then trying to look at everyline which is not that easy espicially tight places.

Just checked they all seem to be ok. But that was good place to check. I heard spraying Carb cleaner while car is idling should see the leak and play with engine rpm. Just don't want to cause more problems by doing that.

I feel like I'm having the same problem. On a stock 628 ECU my 850R will only boost to 7 psi. When I put in the RICA ECU it'll boost to 12 psi, but isn't 12 psi the same as the standard overboost feature? I feel like both computers are ~3 psi too low, but I haven't been able to find a good data sheet about these cars and am just pulling numbers from memory.

My mechanic says everything checks out normal, the wastegate arm moves freely (maybe it needs to be shortened a bit?), there are no vacuum leaks.

Yeah man I don't know what to say, just bad luck, I have done everything possible to figure out why it would not boost 15 Psi. I just ordered a mbc and a new wg actuator, there my last hope. If that doesn't work then I'm going to assume my Turbo is done, and just live. With 10psi. I have tried 90% of people suggestions, but nope. Plz anyone have any ideas, I just want to fix this issue I've been tackling this problem for the past 3 month, and just replacing everysingle piece that has to do with Turbo, except the Turbo.

Honestly if your car is boosting 12psi with the tune, then your cbv spring is done, or there is some type of small leak in your vac lines. Those 3psi are bieng lost somehwere with or without the tune. Mabye your wg is out of adjustment but it doesn't seem like a big problem. My advice just stay patient and you will eventually figure it out. Read alot, theses fourms are as good if not better then your top mechanic lol

I just disconnected the the line wg, and I able to spike to 12 Psi and drop back to 10, what does that mean??
Am also can make a boost tester, pcv cap,3inch coupling etcc, to try to test for any leaks, but before I do that I herd alot people saying something bout disconnecting or blocking the pcv, so you wont damage your engine, which I don't understand. Does anyone know of this or have experience using boost leak tester.

whats up guys, i just joined this site, i'm on volvospeed, I'm actually having the same problem with my ARD tune, suppose to be tuned for 14 psi, mine will hit 11, then quickly drop down to 9.

wg is fairly new, took line off and boosted fine
replaced tcv with brand new one
replaced cbv
pretty sure i have no vac or boost leaks
checked intercooler plastic for cracks
cleaned maf

you were saying you think your turbo is tired or something, well if it was I don't think it would be able to boost good with a mbc, but yeah I can hook up my mbc and get full boost no problem, i don't know wth is going on, i even resent my ecu to lucky and he said he reworked the file and tested in his car. -volvohighway, were you able to boost past 12 psi with wg line disconnected you should be able to, i had mine up to 15, thats how i know mine is fine, also if you had a boost leak, you should def. be able to feel it and probably get a cel for a misfire, mine is def. smooth no codes, only 9 psi though sucks. someone please figure this out, only thing i was thinking is maybe my front o2 is limiting boost with no cel, i heard thats possible.
