The cover is removed by jamming a screwdriver or a pry-bar inside the lip on it and twisting. When you take it off you'll either find the bearing is buggered, or someone has tightened it down with a bent bolt or a piece of debris trapped beneath that put it at that wacky angle.

It would be very hard to lift- you really can't lift it without a tool.

gonna work on it this weekend, see what i can figure out thanks regent for the diagram that'll do good so i can make sure i put the whole assembly back together correctly. you should check out my other post "smoke and no coolant" to see all the other problems i've been having

Does anybody know what the torque spec is for the accessory idler pulley is?? My Haynes repair manual doesn't have it listed.

25NM is fine, remember you are bolting into aluminium so not too tight.
