Alarm triggers with no reason

Post by vizar »

I have 2012 xc70 d3 awd with Volvo-on-call. The car is 2 months and since the beggining the alarm would trigger 1-2 times a week, usually night time, fewer at early morning. The alarm triggers with no visible reason, the dealer have changed internal movement sensor (the was some error with it during 1st diagnostics), but it didn't help - I keep getting the night calls from Volvo-on-Call 1-2 times a week. Pretty annoying, as I know it's false alarm, I can see the car flashing its lights from my flat window, noone around. Dealer says there're no error codes = nothing to fix. Is there at least a way to see/check which sensor triggers the alarm?

yes, the dealer can read the alarm trigger codes to see what caused it but you have to go to dealer to read this.

2007 S60 2.5T AWD (Daily Driver)
2001 S60 2.4T (Daughter's Car)
2003 S80 2.9 (Son's Car)
1995 850 2.4 (Daughter's Car - sold off)
2005 S40 2.4i (Bought new - since sold)
1986 740GLE 2.3(First Volvo - sold off)

And you must get the readout done soon after a false trigger. The list is updated with every lock cycle and several lock cycles will fill the register with no alarm triggers.

Went to another dealer service center on April 6th, they found that the black plastic box with 4 internal sensors was not closed properly - it's top cover was turned 180 degrees, so that the cover didn't completely fix the sensors and they might have some freedom. So they assembles the box correctny and after that it's been 10 days with no false alarms - I hope it means the problems is solved.

Anyways, I'm disappointed with another dealer's work - they did CHANGE of that sensor box from the one I had in the car originally when I 1st came with this problem to a new one that they ordered as guarantee replacement, so it's very strange to see that the new original replacement part was not assmebled correctly and moreover, the technician hasn't noticed it when installed it... At least now I kow which dealer center I'll never visit again.
