96 850 GLT Heater Fan

Post by JFK0121 »

My 96 850 GLT's heater fan will not engage. Everything else electrical works so I don't think it's a relay. The lights above the recycle and ac switches flash when the fan is turned on indicating ECC issues. Where is the fan located? Also, I would appreciate any help readers can give

Fan is on front passenger side under glove box. It could be the blower resistor- about $50, found in the ducting near the fan- follow wires back from the fan to a connector to a unit held into the ductwork by two screws. Disconnect the wire plug and see if you can get the fan to run with direct 12v to the black and red wires- if fan runs , could be this blower resistor that you can order online. It could also be the climate control module- made of gold since it costs @$700 or more.

oddly, my heater fan in my 93 850 stopped working at times last winter when it got really cold. Arggh! The lights by the recirc/ac switches would flash just as you mentioned. Usually, after driving it for a bit, the fan would eventually come on. That didn't make for happy wife or kids though! I'm praying it won't happen again.... let us know if you get to the root of your problem. Maybe I'll fix mine.
