P1800 purchase?

Post by CMMCK »

Hi all. I'm Carl and I live in Columbia, MD. This is my first post. I've owned old Volvos in the past - a 122 and 144 - and have always wanted a P1800. My current addiction is my Miata, but I've also been into British sports cars, currently have a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite, and am comfortable with being able to easily find just about any part I might need. On Saturday I plan to look at a '69 P1800. I'm not at all familiar with the resources available for these cars. Should I purchase it - it's a restoration project - will I be able to find the parts I need? From the photos I've seen, it looks like, for example, the interior needs extensive restoration. I admit I haven't fully explored the forum's sponsors - kinda busy at work at the moment - so I thought those of you with older Volvos might be able to provide a quicker answer. Thanks in advance for your advice.

When it comes to 1800's, the Yahoo Groups "1800list" is the place to be.

Hi Carl, Just do it, plenty of parts available and lots of help available. A rewarding car to restore and drive with a couple of easy mods.
