1996 960 wagon Fuel pump

Post by j2d2 »

Just found out my fuel pump is bad. The shop it is at will not change it (electrical specialist). I am away from home and have minimal tools. Now for the questions.

1 Is the pump accessible without droping the tank?

2 Are ther 2 pumps? I have found conflicting information on this.

3 Is this doable with a socket set and on board tool box?

I am only seeing the single in tank pump. The 96 did have 2 different fuel injection systems but all the data I have points to one pump only on the 97's with no specific info on the 96's.

One pump only on that one. It is not too bad but the clamps on the filler hose which connects to the sending unit/fuel pump cover are often turned where they are tough to get to. 1/4 inch ratchet with a 7mm socket will usually get it.
