XC90 Centerspeaker installed but not active

I just bought a used 2007 XC90. The center speaker is there but no sound comes out of it. The other speakers work fine.
In the manual, it says to choose CENTER from the "sound settings" options in order to adjust. However, I have no CENTER option in the sound settings.
Is there a way to activate this speaker? It just doesn't make sense that a speaker this large would be installed without being accessible to the sound system.

As JRL said, it just LOOKS like you have a center speaker. If you pop the grill off its probably empty under there.
