Hi Group,
I need to order a rear caliper, but can't determine what size piston. The "ate" caliper has several different numbers and letters on same. One number is a 6 or a 9, one number is a 44 and another letter or number is 0?
I tried to take an old pad and measure the rusty circle, but that wasn't too accurate as I get somewhere of 38-40mm.
Thanks again,
91 740 rear caliper piston size

Your options are limited. Usually, you only have one.
Knowing you have an ATE is 1/2 the battle.
Call your local auto parts store and they'll tell you about your two choices: new or reman.
Don't go by any numbers cast into the part, they're only for the manufacturer.

I installed a pair of rear calipers with 40mm pistons from a 91 740 N/A on my 88 765 which had 38mm pistons. It shouldn't matter what size the pistons are so long as both the rear calipers have the same piston size.
