Any reason to keep my 1992 940 Gl??
Well I have a 1992 940 Gl Volvo and it has 177,40 on it and it runs really good.Only thing is last 2 years car did need repairs Brakes,Roters,Struts, and last week I put out $300.00 because the car wasn't starting sometimes and it was the aftermarket security system shorting out the electrical system and it took them days to find the issue.I know volvos can run after 200,00 miles but is it worth it to keep a car with the age it has and the high miles?? Aren't other parts going to keep breaking because of age?? Any thoughts.Anyone have over 200,00 and still happy with car.

Keep It! Yes some parts are going to fail with age but the main components will last forever. I have 200,100 on a 1995 850 GLT and 265,000 on my 1995 850 Turbo. All I have had problem with is brakes and suspension. That car will last well over 300k if it is mantained well enough.

If you do not do your own work, sell it. Doing your own work will make the car valuable to you since it is paid for, cheaper to insure etc etc but bringing it to a shop/dealer will be painful in the future.

I own a 1994 940 Turbo Wagon that just turned over to 254,000 miles this afternoon. The vehicle currently starts, idles, and runs like the day I bought it new in August 1994. There are things that need rehular maintenance like brake pads and occassionally rotors, but mostly it just runs. I change the oil every 3K miles, the plugs, transmission fluid, and coolant every 25-30K miles. I buy 80-100K miles tires so don't go through a lot of those. Only get 20-22 mpg but I can live with that. Original engine, transmission, and turbo. Fifth timing belt and second water pump. Replaced RPM sensor and a large turbo intake hose and the idle air control valve. That's pretty much it. Not bad for an 18 yesr old high mileage vehicle. No rust or bodywork damage other than a few grocery store door dings. Doesn't burn anything but gasoline and doesn't drip aything on the garage floor other than air conditioner condensation.
I plan on driving this until I'm very old. My wife and kids I buy newer cars for, but I like my 945TG.
