Tires wear unevenly and too quickly.
Belts are breaking in tires after 20, 000 km

How many miles on car? How long have you had it? How many alignments? When? Any weird noises? Any bevel gear problems? As you can see, we need more details.

I have gone through 4 sets of tires (one set every 14-16 months) on my 98 XC which now has about 75k miles. The tires wear on the outside edge of the front tires only. alignment is fine and has been rechecked several times. have used original tires as replacement and then switched to dunlops. same problem. seems liek the thing needs a camber adjustment...sadly I am not that is possible witht he front end set up. anyone else with this issue?

Same problem here (99 XC). Original Continental CH95's had belt problems at 60,000 km - got Continental to replace them at cost.

Wheel balance and vibration continues to be a problem. We get them balanced, all is fine for a few weeks and then the problem returns. I suspect the belts are shifting if that is possible.

if abnormal tire wear, check viscous coupling to the wheels. It needs service.
