hi,
my 2001 v40 t4 is squirting oil all over the inside of the timingbelt cover and it comes from the little valvething on the vvt.
anybody seen this before? normal?
means that i have to change vvt?

This is not normal. Replace the failed part and gasket before the oil causes the timing belt to slip. I would also replace the belt after the leak has been fixed and the area cleaned of all oil.

The VVT units seem to be leaking with age. I have replaced one and have seen others. There are no seals to seal the area where it leaks.
Replacing it requires a cam locking tool to get cam timing correct to be sure no codes .
