I recently purchased a 2001 Volvo V70 XC Turbo. I smoke, so I need the recirculation on the ventalation system to be off most of the time. It doesn't seem to be working properly. The way I can tell is when I am smoking with the air on and the light on the reciculation button is off, the smoke should be forced out of the partially opened window (or that is the way it was on my previous cars). I can't really tell if this is happening or not. Also, in my previous cars, when I had the air on and hit the recirc. button, the air flow sound sould increase. I also cannot tell if this is the case in this car.
How do I fix the problem to get the recirculation system to work properly? Is there a fuse that controls it? The light turns on and off when the button is pushed, but I don't think anything is happening when I push the button.
Please offer some advice for me! I need the smoke to exit my car!
Thanks to anyone that can help/

There is an actuator (electric motor or air) that opens/closes the air intake door to the outside. So if you want to do some troubleshooting you can locate a schematic in the Repair Database of this forum, and go from there. You may be able to determine if there's power to the actuator, however you will need to take some stuff apart to see if the air door actually moves. It sounds like it's stuck on recirc.
