12V switched wire located by drivers feet

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

12V switched wire located by drivers feet

Post by dwright208 »

I have a 2001 S80 non-turbo. I would like to install my Valentine One radar detector (which kicks a** by the way) and need an easy to locate switched 12V wire near the drivers feet. Please help...

Have a V1 as well, but just use the cig lighter socket because it is so easy to get to. The V1 was first used in my S80 during some high speed transit in 2004. It paid for itself that first outing, and I have been using it ever since. Too bad it doesnt detect potholes. (see Re: So I hit this pot-hole in Mexico... blower motor help)
Just occurred to me, why not pull power off the back of the cigarette lighter socket? It's 12v, and certainly is switched. you could sneak a pigtail over to wherever you want the wiring.
Just a thought.

Ya know, I just realized that I replied to a post that was four years old. you probably solved the problem by now. I'll go back to sleep now. I gotta pay closer attention when I'm reading these older posts.
