MAF Vacuum hoses and p0172 and p0102 codes. Yay!

My 1996 850 wagon failed emissions and they said it was a p0172. I found a vacuum leak, grounded out the computer to reset the check engine light. Light stayed on, of course, got the code read and came up p0172 and now p0102.

I pulled the MAF off and cleaned it, put it back on and it ran the same. Car runs fine but I can tell it's running really rich by the smell. For fun, I disconnected the MAF while the car was running and it sputtered pretty badly. So, is it really the MAF? What in the world else could it be??????????? I've replaced just about every vacuum hose.

There's a vacuum port on the left side of the intake manifold, tucked behind the power steering pump and thermostat. In there is a small vacuum elbow that runs to the PCV system, and it very commonly cracks or falls off entirely. I would start my search there.

I looked for that one and couldn't find it. Does something have to come off the top of the motor like the pump and thermostat to get it?

Nope, it's just tucked in there. While some earlier cars (94's) didn't have it, it should be there on a 1996.

Right edge of the alternator is visible below.

Is that the power steering hose in the front and is the v hose ABOVE the alternator? If so, I am fairly sure that hose is MIA on my car.

Yes. You can still probably feel the port there, sucking air like crazy.

Slightly better view of it (with the elbow still attached)

Is this a turbo or non-turbo model? (the other end of the hose connects to a different location depending on which)

Ok, the other end of that vacuum hose will connect to the flame trap snorkel near the throttle body.

I think I replaced that one then already. What more vacuum hoses could be hiding?

It seems the one I replaced in that area of the intake manifold was facing forward. Would that be correct? Or are there two on that end of the intake?
