940 Door Stuck Closed from Inside and Out!

Hello all. I am desperately in need of assistance.

I recently repaired the exterior door handle which had suffered failure due to the disintegration of the internal linkage piece.

Upon completing the repair I closed the door to do a final check that I had done the repair correctly.

The door would not open from the outside. It would not open from the inside either.

Luckily, I had not replaced the interior door panel.

How can I open the door. I have tried to figure out the latch mechanism. So far, no luck.

Any advice that will lead to a solution will make me a very happy fellow. Thanks.

You probably tripped the child safety on the door latch and the outside door handle doesn't work. But this would apply to the back doors only. No mention of whether it is a front door or a rear door.

Thanks. It is the rear (driver's side door). I can reach the child safety latch from inside the door, so that is not the problem. It must be something with the main latch mechanism.
