S40 1.9T (Crank Not Turning Fully when belt off)

Post by dorage »

I have a 2001 1.9 T S40 VVT
I've replace the headgasket and am now rebuilding. I was attempting to turn the crank to find the mark (I didn't mark it before teardown.) The crank only goes so far in either direction before coming to a stop. I haven't put the belt on yet.
Thanks.

Have you preset the cams to their timing marks?...The pistons are hitting valves that are open because everything is out of time...Hope you didn't force anything and bend a valve...

I did pull the cover off. I borrowed the cam locking tool from my local dealer, set the marks and put it back together. It's working well.
Thanks.
