My fan motor has stopped. The compressor runs and cycles alright. The two LED's on the ECC panel flash when the ingnition is on or the car is running. The Fan will run when it is removed from the car and 12 Volts is applied to the fan motor. Can anyone tell me how much current (amperage) the fan motor should draw?? I have read that the ECC will shut down the motor if it draws too much current, but have not confirmed that this is the case.
The fan motor resistor has been removed and visually checked internally for broken solder connections and for a shorted or open FET (field effect transistor). The FET checks out and there were no obvious bad connections.
These are the codes that I pulled: 211,321,322,325,414,417,418.
These codes were set after disconnecting the battery for a while then reconnecting and starting the vehicle and AC.
Can someone please tell me what these codes are?
Thanks in advance.

Cannot tell you how many amps the fan should draw but the codes are:
2-1-1 Driver's side damper motor position sensor open circuit or shorted to 12 volts
3-2-1 Driver's side damper motor active too long
3-2-2 Passenger's side damper motor active too long
3-2-5 Recirculation damper motor active too long
4-1-4 Driver's side interior temperature sensor inlet fan seized
4-1-7 Passenger's side interior temperature sensor inlet fan seized
4-1-8 No control signal to blower fan stage
Bill.

Bill, it sounds like you are very knowledgeable with the electronics of the AC system - much more so than me. Nonetheless I had a similar problem with my 93 850 GLT and chased codes till I was blue in the face - very similar to the ones you've pulled - and they did me almost no good at all. Sounds like your fan is okay and based on my experience with my car, I would go ahead and replace the fan motor resistor - regardless of what it looks like. That was the main cause of my AC problems. I ended up replacing the resistor and the fan motor assembly and my AC works great now. Good luck.
Thanks, Bill and utvol.
Frankly, based upon a reading of the posts by utvol and his troubles with his system, I have to agree with utvol. I may go ahead and replace the fan too just on principle since it has alot of miles on it so to speak and since I have ready access to it now.
I am familiar with FCP Groton. Does anybody have any other possible sources for the resistor and blower motor w/fan for an ECC system?? Groton is cheaper than I can obtain the parts for here locally, but it never hurts to ask.
I feel that the codes which I have retrived have been set due to a lack of airflow through the return air system, secondary to the blower not working. I will bet that if the fan were working and the codes were cleared that they would not reappear. Code 418 is probably the main one indicating a failure with the power supplied to the blower motor. Fix 418 and the rest will go away......hopefully.
Does anyone have a repair flow chart for diagnosing the cause of a code 418??
I will post back to let you know what happens.
Many thanks!!!

I bought a blower motor for my '94 850 years ago from eeuroparts.com and felt I got the best price around. Don't know how they rate now, but their prices are good and free shipping over $39.00. They have the fan with and without blades (big price difference) as well as the relay and other parts. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I bought both the fan motor and the resistor from eeuroparts.com. I have installed them and replaced the glovebox, knee panel, etc.
Everything works great now. No codes are being set and the a/c blower is as it was when the car was new.
Thanks for all of your help. Couldn't have done it without you.

Glad it worked out for you guys who replaced your blower motors and in some cases the relay. Seems the ECC give all kinds of false codes when these things are at fault. Cold air in the summer time is wonderful on long trips...couple that with the most comfortable seats in the world and it's HEAVEN! (Just got back from an 8 hour trip to the beach 100+ degree weather and it was soooo nice!).

The codes are back!! same ones.
Blower motor still works fine.
I am trying to find out why the codes are setting again.
Anyone have any luck finding a remedy to any of the above listed codes?
