Hey there. This thread is about Volvo s80 2.4 170 PS and production year 2000.
So i have big problem with cooling fan. Now i have third cooling fan and issue is still there. Fan spin few seconds and then shutdown. About 1 minute spin again but only when is A/C engaged, if is not then fan wont work...This few seconds are 3 or 4. In this hot days car are overheating and gauge go to red. So i checked with multimeter wires (+ and -), i checked temperature sensor, all fuses are ok (engine comparement, dash, trunk), A/C switch is ok because he trigger fan, regulator i think is ok because first was defected, this 2nd and 3rd regulator and electric motor for fan do the same, spin only when is A/C engaged for few seconds and it is doesent matter if engine is extremly hot or not. Oh and if i dissasemble connector which go to temp sensor and ECU then is the same, rpm jump for 100 and drop to idle, fan work 3 or 4 seconds and dead. Sensor have ohm values in range (220 ohm when is car hot), i triet too with 140 ohm resistor and nothing. On big connector which go to fan is +12.xxV so electricity is no problem.
This car have only one temperature sensor or have somewhere temperature switch or??? I dont know how to move forward.
Edit:// At ECM wire which go to regulator if voltage drop from 12-13V to 8,56V then fan work for few seconds...
