Disconnecting daytime running lights s70

Post by classiguy3 »

How do I disconnect the daytime running lights. I am installing HID xenons and I dont want them to run all the time. Is there a wire I can disconnect from the actual switch in the dash for the headlights?

thanks

US, Canadian or other? Not you, your car ;-). Reason I ask is if it's a US model, there's a small screw on the headlight switch that can be turned to turn off daytimes.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

The screw is a switch. It goes 90 degrees from where it is now - I think it is CW, but I may be wrong. You can use a jewlers screwdriver and there is very little resistance if you turn it in the correct direction.

Let us know which direction, and good luck.

I cannot find a tiny screw on the light switch, and I would like to be able to turn off the lights. Mostly because sometimes I am cleaning or working on the car with the key turned to "on," and my lights run during this time. They are on no matter what.

After reading your posts, Matthew, I am assuming the car must come from Canada. I don't know; I am its third owner and have no historical documents for it.

My immediate concern is that I have a bulb out. I would prefer turning off the lights over having only one headlight working. Of course, I plan to replace the bulb. But meanwhile, why the heck can I not turn off my headlights? Ever? I think it's plain silly.

And I have never called Volvo design silly: this is my 7th Volvo, my 1995 940. I graduated over the years from 66, 68, 73, 77, and 87.

These modern inconveniences just drive me mad.
