rough idle, idle control valve cleaning

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

rough idle, idle control valve cleaning

Post by gerryd »

I have a 2002 S80 2.9 non turbo and have a rough idling issue, at 700rpm. 247,00 miles, bought last year. Have new plugs, 1 new coil, new MAF, new air filter, cleaned throttling valve, used Seafoam, then Gumout to clean fuel injectors via the gas tank, checked hoses for vacuum leaks. I get a "lean fuel mixture" code on banks 1 and 2. What are your thoughts ?

I'm thinking clean the idle air control valve, but don't know where to find it. Is it one of the 3 hoses immediately after the ETM?

I'd be thinking about the possibility of a bad vacuum leak, like either the throttle body gasket or intake manifold gasket.

There is no IAC. The throttle is controlled for idle. Sounds like a possible vac leak to me too given you have mixture codes for both banks...
