'99 V70R and a P1332 code (cam shaft)

Post by chrispassmore »

Good morning!

About 6 weeks ago I had a code for a large Evap leak- evident from a rough and pulsating idle between 800-1050 RPM's. I replaced the MAF sensor but that didn't work. There is not really a rough idle anymore but not I do have to give the car quite a bit of gas when I turn the key on. Sometimes even that's not enough to get the car started. Other than that, and maybe a small performance loss, the car runs fine.

Car is now in the shop with a new code of P1332...something about the cam shaft... Wondering if this sounds like the CVVT Solenoid? Wondering if there's anything I could/should try to confirm. Second question- where can I find a decent priced one?

Thanks in advance, I love this community!

It is indeed a CVVT error code.

Check the connector to the CVVT solenoid.

Check between the terminals on the CVVT valve with an Ohmmeter. You should have low resistance.

If those check out OK it could be that the oil passage from the CVVT valve that control the actual cam position is plugged up. You need a new gasket if you are going to check that.

Did you recently have the timing belt changed? If the exhaust cam is not properly pre-loaded it can cause a CVVT range error code.

As far as the best deal on a replacement just shop around - they aren't cheap.
