I didn't read your thread in performance but you will probably be happy with the Volvo-branded head gasket, I always have been.
Seems more likely the oil dripped through from the valve stem seals, onto the scorching hot exhaust valve. But maybe yours is one of the rare 850/x70 engines with significant blow-by.

If there were significant blow-by, wouldn't there be smoke? This engine never smokes. Maybe the rings aren't that bad. Most likely I'll put the rebuilt head on and see how long it lasts. My neck is already killing me, so pulling the block might be a little much right now.
