Hi Group,
Does one know the ball loint torgue on a 79 242, 2.1 ltr. Please advise if there is any other specs and or advice I should know.
When I was doing my front brake job the ball joint job appeared to be very simple if all the bolts disassemble with ease!!! I noticed a lot of slop in one joint and then ordered the parts which came with no specs.
Thank You,
Kevin

Torque for the ball joint stud is 44 lb ft.
Torque for the attachment bolts is 15 - 20 lb ft. Use new bolts/nuts for this part.
Do not grease the ball stud as it may seat too deeply and damage the rubber boot.
Also be aware that from 1979 the left and right ball joints are not interchangeable. This may affect you - it depends when the car was actually built.
