HELP!! Husband took off s belt/ drive belt...no diagram!
Glad we figured it out! I guess some S70's do have the extra pulley. We had a volvo shop mechanic look it up on their online manual and it showed the 6 pulleys. Since we knew that was not correct, he looked it up by the engine # and then found the correct routing. All I can think of is that certain engines in the S70's have this other system. ??? Gotta love Volvo for these crazy things sometimes.
Best of luck to you all.
Best of luck to you all.

Okay, I'm on another computer than my normal one I use. The reason- whenever I come to this post my computer crashes. 100% of the time. I could be all over the internet, burn a DVD, go to other forums. Post anywhere here, but when I come to this thread, even before I can post, my computer crashes....True since a few days ago. Is there some strange script on this thread or a hole in the software for this site? I don't know...strange, but it happens every time. Doesn't happen anywhere else. Mattew, if you're reading this, HELP!

n00b..
The car in question was a '99 model, they must have changed it in that model year for some reason.pfeener wrote:Just as a point of reference; my 98 S70 has the extra pulley.
Blame Porsche they must have come up with some kind of modification.
If you check it out on the Bay 13 site you can see it quite clearly and that article is about a '99 model.

Never had a problem here myself, must already be on your system, what spyware/adware, anti virus programs have you got, I use 4 all up, 2 x anti virus, 1 x adware, 1 x popup killer and Firefox for junk emails. These days you need them all !!!MadeInJapan wrote:Okay, I'm on another computer than my normal one I use. The reason- whenever I come to this post my computer crashes. 100% of the time. I don't know why it was doing it on this particular thread, but it was....I finally got tired of it and changed out my graphics card for another one...so far so good. But no indication of any issues. Dump file wasn't indicating trouble either...just that my screen would go blank and a lightening bolt blasted out of it just about every time....then couldn't get the computer to do anything. When I rebooted everything seemed okay again until I came here....no kidding. My graphics card appears to over-heat...a hardware problem. Anyway, appears solved now, or let's hope, anyway.

yeah, I use a bunch of stuff myself. But it was none of that...it was a defective graphics card...somehow this thread just over-loaded it for some reason. Different card- we'll see how things are now.cocka wrote: Never had a problem here myself, must already be on your system, what spyware/adware, anti virus programs have you got, I use 4 all up, 2 x anti virus, 1 x adware, 1 x popup killer and Firefox for junk emails. Btw, I use Adaware, Spybot, System Mechanic, Norton's coporate ed. Antivirus, and Sunbelt Kerio Firewall. I scan the system at least once a week...never any trouble. Oh yeah, firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird too for email.

sorry to hear about the card, MIJ. the only thing i can think of is that it's this image:
http://www.eeuroparts.com/images/saab/9186352c.gif
as a test, if you were really bored, put the card back in, then open your browser and paste just that url into it. i bet you it would crash it, because that image is really the only thing that makes this thread different than any others.
getting really off topic here, i use macs at home, and a pc at work. i'm not going to preach because i know mac/pc discussion usually touches nerves, but i've never had any problems with macs and viruses, nor have i ever run anti-virus software on them. therefore, if you're getting clobbered by viruses or sick of the upkeep/updates required to keep up with virus definitions etc, and don't need a pc for any specific reason, i recommend macs.
i've used macs since 1992 and i run a mac forum, so i'm not just lucky with the whole virus thing, i know the risks (low) and choose to run without virus software. i use a software firewall built into the OS to minimize larger threats like local hack attempts over wifi.
my pc at work -- being fair here -- runs just fine. no problems ever. but note it's maintained by a dedicated IT staff, so i don't waste even a moment a year thinking about keeping it virus free.
if anyone ever wants to know more about this, send me a private message.
apologies to the original poster for the big topic detour here!
