I just got a great deal on a 2002 s60 2.4t with 125 000 KM on it.
i would love some advice on
brand of oil to use (i live i australia, temps between 5c - 45 c going into summer now)
spark plugs and some preventative maintenance for the transmission
i did some googling and it seemed to go around in circles
thanks

s60 2.4t advice
Welcome to the LPT club! I also have an '02.
As far as the oil, I assume you can get Mobil1 or Castrol Synthetic down there. I use whichever of the two is on sale when I need it. As far as plug, some people like to run Bosch copper, or an OEM blister pack from the dealer. Don't waste money on the iridium and all that jazz.
Your transmission ( I assume) is an automatic? This model year uses a specific fluid. It is called 3309. You CAN NOT use anything other than this fluid, or you will be looking for a transmission. You can pick it up from the dealer, or local mobil vendor.

You can also check with your local Toyota dealer and ask for Type IV fluid. It is 3309 and about 1/4 of the cost of the fluid from the Volvo dealer. Here's a link about it

Your timing belt will need replacement soon, if it has not already been done. It's due around 170,000 km, but if it has never been changed, it's running past it's service life just because it's 10 years old. You'll need a new tensioner as well. This is also a great time to change the water pump, if you chose to.
So long as you take care of her, She'll run forever. You're lucky, 2002 2.4 non turbos have terrible transmission problems here in the states, not sure if they were the same over seas. As far as I know, 2.4t's did not have the same problems.
