Transmission code P1618

Post by geomart »

Hi All

I have a 2001 V70, 98,000. I just got a code P1618, Fault on Lead Between AW-50-52, Motroic 4.3. I had the code cleared, it came back within 100 miles. The Car runs find. Cannot detect any difference. Anyone have this problem. Thanks Geomart.

This code is generic and difficult to erase by backyard mechanic as us. You need a scanner that can access both the TCM and ECM. Most scanners only erase codes in the ECM and it come back.

You can "google it" for more information (Volvo P1618).

Find this thread were a specialist explains this condition.

Ideally you should have it scanned by Vida-Dice or a scanner that can interpret Volvo propriatory codes. It can be only a "glitch" or something associated with the transmission.

Thanks for the Help. It had me worried. I just had the Throttle Module replaced a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering if there was some relation. Maybe the Mechcanic just losened something. And low and behold, I got the DRL's turned off. After being told several times it could not be done. While it was in last time, asked again, $30.00 later, done. Thanks Geomart

I had a P1618 code on my V70 in May. My CarMD code reader said to reprogram the TCM. Took it to a European Shop and they reprorgamed the TCM and I have not had a code since. It cost around $100.

Got car back from Dealer about the Transmission Code P1618. I'm being told the Torque Converter Switch in the Valve Body is Bad. They would not clear the codes in the TCM, will discontecting the Battery remove them?
Been reading all the bad things on the Forum about these Transmissions. I'm woundering wheather to Rebuild the Valve Body only or the hole thing. Other than the warning lights being on, there is no problems, no hard shifting or other signs somethings wrong.
