New Double Din pioneer install

Post by curtisdavis1983 »

I have a Pioneer AVH 8400BH that i am about to install in my 1998 S70 GLT. However, I didn't get a installation kit for it. I haven't seen any where that I would need one and for the most part, all i have seen said is that once I removed the rails along the side, the radio should fit right in. I can see that it should slide right in but my concern is as to whether it will slide back into the slot to far or out the slot all together upon pulling off from a stop. Also does anyone know what color is the wire for the parking break power supply because I have a wire that is suppose to attach to it (for a reason unknown to me).

Also, does anyone know if (or what wire, if i can) wire i will be able to connect the orange wire with a white stripe too or the blue wire with a white stripe? Or do i just have to tape both of these off?

I just installed a Kenwood double-din in my wife's 850. I had to remove the rails. I used my trusty Fein multi-master to saw them off. Some might try a dremel. There is a wire to attach to the brakes. It was for an optional backup camera. Didn't hook it up. The other extra wire was for the transmission park setting. This is a safety precaution to keep a person from watching a DVD while driving. I just ground it on the unit so it will operate anytime. I jammed the external microphone in the blank switch by the ignition. The GPS sensor was put on the passenger side beside the roof column where the dash meets the windshield. Taking out the glovebox makes the install easier. Good luck.
Oh, I also used those plastic shrink tubes to insulate my solders and make sure you have the adapter kit that will allow you to connect your new unit to the Volvo's radio buses (there's two).

I really appreciate your help. But could you tell me what i am looking for with the adapter kit that will allow you to connect your new unit to the Volvo's radio buses? I assume this may allow my automatic antenna to work again, which ceased to work post install of my stereo.
