manual transmission swap.

Post by travis873o »

So there is a 760 diesel at the junkyard with a manual transmission. I was thinking about pulling it. Does anyone know what kind of transmission that would be m26 or m27? and would it fit in my 1990 b230ft sedan?

Thanks

It will be an M46 + overdrive. It is a different bell housing as the diesel is an Audi/VW engine.

So...use the trans. bellhousing, clutch, pressure plate and flywheel from a 740/760 on a 5 cylinder VW/Audi Turbo gas engine? Or did Volvo already do something like this with the VW/Audi 5 cylinder Turbo Diesel? I seem to have read that this was done in some taxi's.

that answers my question. The hunt continues. is the m47 in any way more superior to the m46? I know the m46 is push button O/D and the m47 is a O/D gear. Any comments on strength?
