ABS/BCM CONTROL UNIT VOLVO S60 2002 D5

Post by 1thomson »

Hi, I have a volvo s60 2002 heavy oil car. The ABS control unit has failed and attempts to repair have been unsuccessful. The software will not transfer over to a refurbished unit due to corrupt coding. Can anyone answer the following as buying and fitting from a volvo dealership is vastly expensive.

1. If I buy a new unit will it require to be re-programed or will it work as there are no previous stored codes. I am based in Glasgow, UK does anyone know of an independant garage should this be the case.

2. I have downloaded the VADIS software, if I bought a compatible tool for this software could I reprogram the unit myself. If so can you recommend the correct tool.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance, Raymond

1- A new unit will need to be programmed by a software download from Volvo. You can contact Xemodex. They repair and refurbish these modules.

Find this long thread about ABS module repair. You will find reference to a few indendant folks who repair them.

2- Only shops equipped with Vida-Dice can download software from Volvo. Mainly they are dealers or independant shops who pay subscription fees. If you are equiped with Vida-Dice you won't be able to download software or do software upgrades unless you pay these fees ($$). However Vida-Dice is a valuable tool to diagnose and interpret Volvo propriatory codes.
