Climate control dtc codes

Post by l33tDad »

Okay, I'm pulling codes in my climate control. It started yesterday when I turned on the blower and the Rec/AC lights started to flash and the blower wouldn't, well, blow. It's blowing as of about 30mins ago though...

I'm pulling the following:

417: Passenger side interior temp inlet fan seized
418: No control signal to blower fan power stage

WTF does all that mean and how can I fix it? Thanks :)

On a related note, what is on the B2 socket? I figured I'd look at the other sockets to see if there are any codes and I'm pulling a 122 on that but can't find any information about it.

B2 is cruise control, code 122 is always there when you check the car without having driven it and not shut the engine off. The code means; speed not above 35Km per hour or no vechicle speed signal.

On your other issue, is sounds like your fan is getting ready to go or you have a bad, or going bad blower motor resister. Does your fan make a noise? If not then most likely the resister. Reset it and keep driving and see how it goes. I've found that Eeuroparts.com has about the best price on either of these items, and shipping is free if you spend $40 or more with them:

Okay, cool - that's kind of what I was thinking with what the service manual was saying. I'm not going to worry about it then.

No, the fan doesn't make any (bad) noise. It just didn't really work too well yesterday on my drive or this morning on my way to work. This has happened before in the past with the same error codes. It was fine when I reset the codes, but they've obviously come back. I tried the fan durring lunch and it was blowing fine, so maybe it's the resistor? Why are these so friggin expensive though!? Oh well :\

Don't know why they get so much for them.

I know the codes don't indicate it, but you might also try cleaning out your thermostat sensors in your cabin. If they are dirty, they report incorrectly and this may be one reason you're not getting as much a/c activity. They are located above the grab handles in a little hole above the driver's and passenger' doors. Just be careful...they are sensitive and you can damage them- A little compressed air goes a long way with them.
