I went to Wal-Mart as meine39 suggested and they had a great deal on Mobil Super 10w-30 High Mileage in a 5 qt jug. Why is it a great deal? This motor oil is a synthetic blend, meets multiple industry specs, has Mobil's HM additive package, and is resource conserving for the same price range as conventional oil! It's formulated for 2000 or earlier vehicles with 75,000+ miles, fits my car's description. I used the extra oil from my last oil change to top it off. Seems like 5.5 quarts is the sweet spot for me. Now comes the weird part. The magnet is missing from my oil drain plug! Is this an OEM part? It came with my car when I bought it used 5 years ago. I don't know if the magnet fell out at the last oil change, and my buddy recycled it with the jugs of used oil we collected. Maybe it's still in the bottom of crankcase! I couldn't find it in the drain pan this time around, the plug tends to drop into it after loosening. I'll update y'all if my engine explodes. I pray that it doesn't.

My car just 125,000 miles so it's time for another 5k oil change. I put in a Microgard oil filter, Made In USA, it's O'Reilly's low-cost house brand. Looks a lot like a Motorcraft filter that they also had in stock, that in turn looked like a Purolator filter that I bought last year from a competitor.

The OEM oil drain plug didn't come with a magnet. I replace all of mine with the magnet type from eEuroparts at the first oil change.
Curious thing though, the magnet shifted on the magnetic plug that I put in my daughter's S70. I just put one of the OEM's back in place until I place my next order. I'm about due for some new oil cap gaskets as well so I'm keeping a running list.

Oh, thank God! I think I was getting confused with the ATF drain plug which looks like it has a magnet built into it.Ozark Lee wrote:The OEM oil drain plug didn't come with a magnet. I replace all of mine with the magnet type from eEuroparts at the first oil change.

- Nasty crud stuck to ATF drain plug, looks like a magnet in the center.
