Hello all,
I am chasing again (seems like a sign of Spring arriving) a not-overly cold airconditioning. Looking at where the various lines from the accumulator go through the firewall, a nice ice cold breeze blows. The interior gets some cold air as well, but there is lots going into the engine compartement. Should these openings not be covered with a rubber seal of some sort? I was ready to get my caulk gun out, but should first check with the resident specialists here at The Forum. Should I use some silicone or so to make sure all the cold air goes where it is more appreciated than in the engine compartement?
Thanks for your help,
Best regards from Down Under,
Erik
A/c accumulator line through firewall seal or not?

Hi all,
I know it is considered bad manners to bump a post back up, but anyone??
Thanks, Erik.

I wouldn't think that there wouldn't be any functionality concerns with sealing it up. I plan to do pretty much the same thing in mine when I'm redoing my AC (hopefully this weekend). One thing I'd make sure of is that whatever you're using can stand the high heat of the engine compartment and doesn't decompose into anything nasty. Also, something removable is a plus. Maybe butyl tape? If I get to mine this weekend, I'll let you know what I used and how it turned out. I think the ideal thing would be a rubber grommet, if you could find one just the right size.
