Help!!
I brought a Volvo S60 a few months back and found a couple of exhaust hanger brackets in the spare wheel well. When I look at the exhaust I see the middle hanger rod has rusted off (therefore previous owner/car sales man probably took the brackets off for a quick sell!). I'm loathed to buy a new exhaust yet as it appears ok. You can get a repair hanger from partsforvolvoonline.com for

Do these brackets have arms or are they just exhaust clamps?found a couple of exhaust hanger brackets
Is this the hanger rod on the pipe or the part welded to the car?When I look at the exhaust I see the middle hanger rod has rusted off
If it is the rod on the pipe then the other part should still be on the car and will probably look like a small coat hanger. The rubber bungies hook over the ends of the hanger and then on to the rod on the pipe.
You have looked these up on Parts for Volvos Online but all I can find there are the rear hangers for the 850/S&V70. Is the pipe on the S60 the same diameter?
Bill.

The bits I found in the wheel well are the two arms that have a flat plate on them that bolt on to the underside of the car. There is a rubber bungy on each through which I assume the rod that is (should be) welded to the bottom of the exhaust pipe actually attaches. I am not sure why the previous owner took them off
My car is an S60 T5
The part I found was here...

it says this part is suitable for
* S60 Series 2001 onwards
* V70 Series 2000 onwards
* S80 Series 1999 onwards

When I tried earlier to look up the parts the site kept crashing so I did not actually find this.
If you are able to bolt the hanger back on to the underside of the car the only other question is about the part from Parts for Volvos. This is designed to fit on the rear of the exhaust system and may not be long enough to reach the bungies at the centre position.
It is worth a try as, once the parts are fitted to the underside of the car and the pipe, it is quite easy to fit the bungies.
I did this repair on the rear of my 850 and it took about 5 minutes.
Bill.

Thanks for your help Bill. However, I can't quite figure out how the hangers bolt on (which way round etc.), which is why I was after a picture of the underside of an S60 (or V70 / S80??). I guess I may have to find one for sale in a garage somewhere.
The part on the website has two arms on it which makes me think this is the right one. The hanger on the rear only has one arm by the tailpipe. If you're interested, the hanger on partsforvolvosonline.com is found under the menu on the left hand side of the screen - exhuast system / other exhuast parts, then the one at the bottom of the screen.

Sorry I can't help further on this. My neighbour has his S60 in Brussels and won't be back until November, otherwise I could have checked his.
Have you tried popping into one of the exhaust fitting places, Kwikfit etc. and seeing if they can tell you how to bolt it on? No harm in trying.
