Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Post by SteveD »

I have a 2000 S80 T6. I just had to redo the head . now after starting it for the first running, i have a misfireing on #6. I have switched coil pack the problem stayed at #6. I replace sparkplug no differance. reved engin up to 2000 rpm, seem to run smooth . The car seem to run down the road good, but I smell sulpher.

Did you clear the code after you made changes? You could try swapping injectors as well. Might be a leaky injector.
Any other codes?
If it seems to be running smoothly after the coil swap take it for a drive, get it under load and see if misfires occur under boost. Plug gap is critical with these cars too.

yes i did clear the code. I may have mislead you, after running down road every time that it would go to idle, there is a dead miss. It has gone dark on me so i will check the injector tommorrow and get back with you

Hello I am back. took me a couple day to get back. well here is what happen. When i pulled the injector rail to check out #6 I found it to be wet and shinny, smelled like gas but was thicker. I looked at the oil filler cap [ which was an inexpensive after market parts store chain so called right fit ] the cap was to big, so moved sidways and allow oil to run out, and down the engine. Which so happen to have a bad injector seal. well it sucked the oil right down the hole, and flooded it out real good. After some cleaning, new injector seals, and a genuine volvo oil cap, the miss went away. Thank you agin matthew's forum Steved

I am sure happy to have my S80 back on the road agine . My 940 is ok but not the same :D
