Weird shake at steady throttle on 2000 v70xc

Post by digitalocracy »

As I work my way through the list of issues I've had things keep getting better, but there is one item that hasn't been resolved yet and I'm wondering what you think I might be dealing with.

I have this shake, like the engine is running rough. I know it happens at other times, however, it is most apparent on the highway, driving about 60-70 mph at a constant speed but more importantly at a constant RPM, in particular I notice it at constant RPM's sitting between 2000-2500.

Here are the things I've done to this car, I bought it used with 175k and I'm at just about 200k miles now.

Replaced the rear drive shaft. Replaced top and bottom engine mounts. Replaced ETM with Xemodex, MAF with Bosch, Fuel/System Relay with aftermarket from Euro. Brand new battery. New spark plugs. No evident sign of head gasket leaks (or other leaks).

Even having replaced the ETM/MAF/Relay/Battery I still get an ETS light from time to time and at idle there is still a very minor hunting occurring. Double checked that none of this was loose or apparently leaking - nothing found. Also, because it may be related, sometimes my cruise control won't work, maybe 10% of the time.

I saw mention of the pedal sensor sometimes causing ETS problems and sometimes being related to cruise control issues but I didn't really find a post that clearly said the sensor was for sure the problem and replacing it was for sure the solution.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Man, ok, so no responses isn't very good. Alright, finally had a chance to stop by the auto parts store and get the OBDII read and there's lots of codes that I'm going to have to look up but several of them would explain part/all of what's going on.

Here' are the codes in case you can help me with those:
P0650
P0030
P0304 - cylinder number 4 is misfiring (I think this may be a bad coil pack, which cylinder is number 4?)
P1332 - there's no definition for this one in the OBDII, any ideas?
P0134
P0013

So I know the P0304, if I can figure out which cylinder is number 4, is almost definitely a bad coil pack. One of those other codes is also related to the Cam Sensor and another one is related to the Oxygen Sensor (but since I replaced the MAF on the intake this must be the exhaust side one that's gone bad, not certain where that's located yet).

With this extra info can any of you shed a little more light? Thanks!

Ok, so obviously the MAF and the o2 are not related, and from what I see it appears that the P0030 is the front (upstream?) o2 sensor. If I replace that and the coil pack I wonder if that will take care of any of the others. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

All right, replaced the coil pack and the o2 sensor and everything is golden in case anyone else looks at this and thinks, hmm, what happened here.
