Hey everyone, haven't truly tackled the P0455 yet. (Have had a bunch of other things come up.) I'll replace my elbows and J and L hoses this week!!

Here's what I'm thinking:

My P0133 (downstream 02 sensor) which flashes on about once every hundred miles and my new P0140 (which has flashed on once before about a thousand miles ago), they both refer to faults occurring with the 02 sensors. I get that. My question is, what is the likelihood that this is being caused by leaks, either at my exhaust manifold or at the flex pipe? Here are pictures I posted on a previous post about looking under your car and being scared by what you see! I can't believe these would hold anything. And you can "smell" exhaust when you turn the car on and idle too long.

How would you guys handle this?

This piece from FCP for $149 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 70-9471934. It doesn't look "too impossible" (I was able to remove a broken exhaust manifold bolt off my Saab, and that one was stuck behind the turbo inlet... But man, you break something here and it's going to be a pain!). I'm thinking the $150. Plus about $150-250 for a new cat and muffler weld at a local shop.

Or should I just get a shop weld on a flex pipe, aftermarket cat and muffler on and roll the dice? I'm sure I could get that done around here for $200... Which is close to the price of two new 02 sensors...

My question is, if they're sawing away at that flex pipe, is the likelihood that they'll knock that exhaust manifold loose a real possibility? Just trying to get a handle of how to approach tackling this.

Really taken aback by the drop in gas mileage lately. I think we're at something like 16mpg...

As always, many thanks for your input everyone!

Hard part here Marco , will be getting off the exhaust manifold nuts off without breaking studs

Definitely want to Drexel or abrasive wheel them off..,font even think of turning them off with torque

I totally get the feeling that these aren't going to come off as easily as they did in this brilliant write up... https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=40032. Thanks for reconfirming my caution, abscate. I couldn't for the life of me get the turbo off my Saab without taking apart the exhaust manifold (and there was a leak there anyway so I figured it would be good to address it) and, well, lets just say that I discovered the "thrill" of removing a broken exhaust manifold stud. But that one was right in front of me! This would require using a right angle drill, on my back, trying to center my hole without seeing where I was drilling, all while having shavings fall on my face! Doesn't sound like fun!

Do you think I just get a shop to cut it off at the flex and weld in some new metal in there and see if that fixes it? Or should I try to slather on layers of this https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-80335-Mu ... 000BOAZM8/ and https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-80331-Mu ... 000BXKZ6K/ and see if I can get the leak?
