What brand timing belt and water pump for 2005 T5?

Post by atikovi »

I can get the belt kit from a Volvo dealer for $159 and the pump for $124. Or I can get an Aisin pump for $75 not including bolts so maybe $82 total. Was Aisin OEM? Any other good deal out there for these parts? Tried IPD but they are out of stock for weeks.

I have used FCP's nice blue box kits (OEM at decent prices, better than the stealership.)
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that

For my 850, I went with a Bosch water pump from Rock Auto I think. Last summer it was less than $50.00. Seems well made and has performed well so far.
I bought the Volvo kit from the local dealership—belt, pulleys for around $180.00.

I you haven't bought anything yet, best to go OEM on everything...Aisin is what Volvo used as OEM for the water pump but just for that, I have never had any problem out of the Hepu and it comes with the bolts.

Think I'll go Aisin on the pump. $75 vs. $125 for Volvo and I'll reuse the bolts. I'll get the kit from a dealer.
