HI,
I have a 1999 S80 and the information center and radio lights are barely readable and the dim control wheel has no reaction, day or night. This all failed at the same time, I also lost the ability to latch the high beam headlights on. You can pull the lever up and they will come on but the relay is not holding for some reason. I have tried turning the headlight switch on and off dozens of times but to no avail! (the little green led on the headlight switch is out also)
Once or twice when i started the car The main cluster lights for the speedo and tach would not light either but after a few seconds only the speedo and tach would come on bright but the info center, clock, odometer digits and radio digits still very dim. I have checked all the fuses and electrical that I can find and all seem good.
Anyone ever have this problem before?
Thanks
1999 s80 dash and radio lights dim

Measure your battery voltage...I suspect it is less than 13.5V which it should be reading when the car is engaged.

I have the exact same behavior in my 2000 S80. Did you check your battery voltage? Also, my gear selector does not illuminate, but not sure if it is because of the same issue or something different altogether.
