I was considering tightening up the wastegate on my 2007 v70r but I know that this mod can only really be done to a point before you essentially cannot get any real gain without upgrading the fuel system to accommodate the boost pressure. Does anyone know what the stock fuel psi is and what would be the highest psi you could tighten up the wastegate would be beford risking damage to the motor or making it run too lean? I'm sure at some point I will upgrade my fuel system and tune my ecu but for now I wanted to tinker around with the boost but not destroy my motor.
Thanks in advance,
Sean
Tightening wastegate and fuel psi
Don't mess with the wastegate.
You have a nice car that's fast enough as it is, don't skimp out and ruin it because you want a taste of more speed. Tune it the right way.
But if you want to be quick and dirty just get a manual boost controller.

Well a boost controller was something I was going to do too but without matching the boost pressure to the fuel psi it can get a little wasteful. You don't happen to know the stock fuel psi do you? I don't want it to run too lean because I have turned up the boost without allowing for enough fuel.

Cranking the wastegate doesnt affect your peak boost, its a baseline setting. Well its a baseline unless you crank it WAYYY up and cause boost spikes. If you want to play with it, do it sensibly and get a hand pressure gauge. Again though, I stress you arent changing the peak boost, the car wont really make more peak power, its just be more sensitive at partial throttle openings. Crank it too much and you will end up with a throttle pedal like an on\off swicth, but once you are flat to the board you wont be making any more power.
AFAIK there is some leeway in the stock fuel delivery to allow for a MBC.

I'm not sure why you're so worried about fuel. Your ECU compensates for the increase in boost.
You won't be burning holes in your pistons if that's what you're worried about. The ECU probably won't let you boost past 1 bar anyway.
