It doesn't hurt anything to pull the fuse and you can put it back in after all of the connections are made back up. Pulling the fuse is the recommended procedure.

If I remember to I pull the fuse but that is only about half of the time. As far as drive-ability goes, it will make no difference. You will not have ABS, obviously, and your speedometer and odometer won't work while it is out. Other than that it should drive fine.
